Brassaï (Gyula Halász)
Brassaï was a Hungarian French photographer who rose to fame in France in the 20th century. He was one of the numerous artists who showed in Paris beginning between the World Wars. In the early 21st century, the discovery of more than 200 letters and hundreds of drawings and other items from the period 1940–1984 has provided scholars with material for understanding his later life and career.
This units research and idea development has been trickier than I initially anticipated due to the fact that the brief is brought in what to photograph. However I managed to break down the price into understandable sections that I could easily focus on as well as photograph subjects that I am stronger at like street Photography.
Power of colour
Kirsty Mitchell draws on her past careers in fashion design and costume making, to make images of colour and dreamlike worlds all shot in the English landscape surrounding her home. Kirsty describes her approach as ‘Fantasy for Real’ spending months painstakingly handcrafting her character's costumes and props to coincide with the bloom of wildflowers, and the seasonal extremes of her local environment.
Dusk til dawn
Todd Hido is a San Francisco Bay street photographer whose work has been featured in many places. He travels to suburban areas in America photographing them at night using only street lights or car headlights to light up his images. They give a striking appeal to them and almost hourly new more 80s feel to them
